Unique Romance Tips

Unique Romance Tips

t never hurts to consider your partner’s love language, either, to make sure they feel as appreciated as possible on this day of love. So if they love gifts, be sure to tell them exactly why you thought of them when you found something they will love. Or, if they experience love through acts of service, spend time doing a special project for them, and they will think of you every time they see it. With Valentine’s Day nearly here, I have some unique romance tips below to help you to steer clear of all the clichéd waters and do something truly romantic: the unexpected.
Surprise Your Partner

Surprise Your Partner

Ok, your partner might be expecting chocolate (assuming they like chocolate, which is a good idea to find out in advance). But they are probably expecting a box of chocolates. So, instead, why not do something more interactive like a chocolate fondue fountain? They are relatively inexpensive on Amazon, and you just dump in the recommended amount of melting chocolate. And, voila! Impressive Valentine’s Day level achieved. Pick out some favorite dippable snacks like fruits, marshmallows, and cookies; even some savory dippers like pretzels are fun. Feed each other to up the romance factor and change your routine.

Make It Personal

Make It Personal

Instead of a card, try writing a love letter. Hallmark’s heyday is over, because it’s never as romantic to hand your partner someone else’s sentiments. Nobody can put your feelings into words better than you can, so spend some time on it. This is especially important if your partner has “words of affirmation” as their love language. Think about what you want to express. Write a draft on scratch paper; read it the next morning. If it doesn’t say exactly what you mean, get out the ol’ thesaurus. If she’s a showstopper, knockout, or goddess, and you landed on “hottie,” how gorgeous you think your partner is will not come across. Remember to include what you love about your partner’s personality, which might be the most romantic part of the whole letter. Since this will take a lot of thought, don’t do it at the last minute.

Skip the Restaurants

Skip the Restaurants

Nothing says romance like waiting for hours for a table at the hottest restaurant on Valentine’s night, right? Actually, there are much more romantic ways you could spend your time together. While the rest of the town is fighting for a table at that fancy spot, skip dinner out altogether. Get up early and make breakfast in bed for your partner. Nothing is more romantic than when you get a selfless, delicious surprise first thing in the morning from your partner.

Find Something Unique and Sweet

Find Something Unique and Sweet

Similar to the chocolates we discussed previously, many people expect to get candy on a romantic holiday. If your sweetheart has a sweet tooth, make it more personal by choosing personalized candy. You can get customized Hershey’s kisses that have a message on the bottom, just from you. Same with M&Ms! You can pick out their favorite color and add a message or even an image to the chocolates. Or, you could pick out a mix of all of their favorites, and then customize a cute container (like a wine glass, coffee cup, or mason jar) with a personal message.

Create Some Rest and Relaxation

Create Some Rest and Relaxation

People spend so much of their time being busy that it can be very romantic to pause and indulge in some DIY spa-time. Skip the bouquet of roses this year, and instead do a rose petal bath, which will make you feel like you’re on a mini-vacation. And you know what that means: vacation sex. Turn on some ambient music, light some candles, and run your partner a nice warm bath. If you have enough space, make it a bath for two.

The most important part of making someone feel adored is that you put both thought and effort into it. Going to the store to buy flowers is a nice gesture, but it’s just not that personal. Writing a sincere love letter about your ten favorite things about your partner is a much more personalized and thoughtful gift. It doesn’t have to be expensive, but you should plan to spend some time on it. This is true for holidays of all seasons—not just Valentine’s Day. Make sure your gift reflects your feelings for your specific partner and not just the generic traditions of a holiday.
